Minneapolis — May 5, 2025 — Faegre Drinker announced today that Wagma Gharwal has joined the firm’s finance and restructuring group as counsel in the Minneapolis office. Gharwal joins from a payments and data company, where she served as director of contract strategy and management.
Gharwal’s joining follows the addition of business litigation counsel Berglind Birkland in Minneapolis earlier this month.
Gharwal advises banks, trust companies, and financial institutions in their capacities as trustees, agents, and other administrative roles on bonds and related matters, including corporate debt, municipal debt, and structured finance transactions. She has a strong ability to problem solve and come up with creative solutions and practical strategies for complex transactions.
“Wagma brings a track record of success in negotiations from her in-house role, as well as stupendous team leadership skills and experience building trusting relationships with business stakeholders to deliver great results,” said finance and restructuring practice group leader Mike Pompeo. “Her background working with financial institutions will greatly benefit our corporate trust team, particularly as corporate trusts continue to be an increasingly complex environment.”
Gharwal’s practice is focused on corporate trust transactions, including reviewing, negotiating and drafting multifaceted agreements for large financial institutions and corporate trustees. She drives deal success throughout the contract lifecycle, drafting and negotiating contracts that benefit and protect a business while also empowering it to bring in revenue.
Gharwal earned her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Minnesota and her Juris Doctor from Hamline University School of Law.
Faegre Drinker’s finance and restructuring practice advises clients across diverse industries on matters from financial transactions to corporate debt restructurings, as well as bankruptcy and litigation matters.
