Silicon Valley, 3 October 2023 – Global law firm Hogan Lovells announced today that Todd M. Schwartz has joined the firm as a partner in the Corporate & Finance practice group and Private Equity practice area, in the Silicon Valley office. Schwartz joined from Paul Hastings, where he was also a partner.
James Doyle, leader of Hogan Lovells’ Global Corporate & Finance Practice Group, said: “We are extremely pleased to welcome Todd to the firm. He joins an expanding global private equity team which regularly helps clients with their most complex, multi-jurisdictional transactions. His addition to our team aligns with our goal to expand our private equity capabilities across our markets.”
Schwartz advises companies and private equity and venture capital funds with respect to their end-to-end capital solution needs, from raising capital to deployment and management. He advises clients on strategic and private equity mergers and acquisitions; private equity and venture capital fund formation and operation; minority, co-investment, and venture capital investments; carveouts; and restructurings, workouts, and in and out of court restructuring and distressed investments.
His work has spanned a number of the firm’s key industry sectors, including technology and telecommunications, financial services, energy, and automotive and mobility. Schwartz also has extensive experience in the aerospace and defense, and real estate industries.
Jane Ross, office managing partner for the Silicon Valley office commented: “Todd’s broad experience across private equity transactions makes him a great fit for our team in Silicon Valley, which is recognized as one of the premier transactional practices in this region. We look forward to working with him to expand our presence here.”
Schwartz said: “I am excited to be joining Hogan Lovells here in Silicon Valley. One of only a few truly integrated global law firms, Hogan Lovells is exceptionally well-positioned to provide support to clients seeking to grow their businesses around the world. I have already been impressed with the highly collaborative approach to serving clients, and look forward to working with my colleagues across the firm’s offices.”
Schwartz earned a J.D. from the University of Illinois College of Law, and a B.A. in Integrative Biology and Legal Studies from the University of California, Berkeley, where he graduated magna cum laude.
The addition of Schwartz comes at a time of growth for the firm’s private equity practice. Earlier this year, private equity partner Matt McTygue joined the firm’s Boston office. Other recent private equity partners who have joined the firm include John Livesey in London and Adrienne Ellman in New York.
Schwartz’s arrival is also part of a renewed focus on California for the firm and commitment to growth in the state’s major legal markets, including Silicon Valley, San Francisco, and Los Angeles. Recent partners who have joined the firm include life sciences patent litigator Jennifer Swan in Silicon Valley, and litigators Trent Norris, Megan Nishikawa, and Amber Trincado in San Francisco.
