Garrett Louthan and Eric Brousseau join as Managing Directors integrating ESG capabilities into Alvarez & Marsal's Global Transaction Advisory Group’s offering
NEW YORK, Jan. 9, 2023 – Leading global professional services firm Alvarez & Marsal (A&M) appointed Garrett Louthan, a professional environmental engineer (P.E.), and Eric Brousseau, as Managing Directors in its new ESG Transaction Advisory practice within the firm’s Global Transaction Advisory Group (TAG). Mr. Louthan's and Mr. Brousseau's hiring expands the firm’s existing corporate ESG offering with a dedicated practice focused on serving the unique ESG needs of private equity (PE) firms’ portfolio companies and merger and acquisition (M&A) transactions.
A&M’s ESG Transaction Advisory practice will integrate environment, health, and safety (EHS) due diligence services into the firm’s deep operational, industry and functional expertise, providing a holistic ESG approach as key differentiators in today’s market. The practice’s integrated ESG model is supported by the additional hires of former SLR Consulting professionals, Adam Jackson and Andrew Christopher, as Senior Director and Director respectively, along with former Motrex LLC Environmental Manager, Victoria Holmberg, as a Director.
Paul Aversano, Managing Director and Global Practice Leader of Global TAG, said, “Integrating ESG due diligence fortifies our M&A bench strength as we continue to unlock value for PE and corporate clients. Garrett’s and Eric’s expertise enhances our trusted advisor role and provides significant boots-on-the-ground facility experience to help clients evaluate compliance and improve performance relative to current and anticipated ESG mandates."
Mr. Louthan and Mr. Brousseau, former Principals at SLR Consulting, bring more than 40 years of combined technical and operational experience to their roles at A&M. Informed by ESG due diligence insights, they focus on directly helping companies and owners quantify material risk and capitalize on opportunities.
Mr. Louthan, who will lead the ESG Transaction Advisory team, has directed numerous PE and corporate environmental transactional advisory projects along with managing EHS compliance and site contamination remediation to reduce clients’ environmental liability. Mr. Brousseau specializes in global M&A focused on evaluating ESG risks for PE and corporates.
Messrs. Louthan and Brousseau have advised numerous transaction-focused clients across the US, EMEA, Asia, and Latin America within diverse sectors including heavy industrial manufacturing, aerospace and defense, automotive, chemicals, energy, food and beverage, and transportation. Mr. Louthan started SLR Consulting’s Atlanta office, leading its transactional advisory in the southeastern U.S. and developing an Environmental Due Diligence center of excellence for large multi-national M&A deals.
Anthony Caporrino, Managing Director and U.S. Practice Leader for Global TAG, said, “Garrett’s and Eric’s in-depth environmental consulting experience furthers our ability to leverage an integrated ESG approach. Their expertise dovetails with our operational credo and results-oriented mindset. Their deep knowledge will help clients navigate anticipated complex regulatory challenges.”
Mr. Louthan, said, “A&M’s technical and operational expertise provides a foundation for identifying ESG risks and opportunities during a transaction while setting the stage to provide further transparency in reporting amidst an evolving ESG landscape. We will continue building the ESG Transaction Advisory team to best meet current and future market demand across geographies and industries.”
