Nelson has over 30 years in the Financial Services/Banking industry. He began his career at American National Bank and Trust Company of Chicago in commercial lending operations.
Over the course of his career, he has been an Operations Manager, Divisional Manager, Project Manager for many the nation’s leading Financial Services and Banking firms (First Chicago, American National, and JPMorgan Chase). He served as the Regional Examination Manager and Senior Vice President at JPMorgan Chase supporting all aspects of commercial lending including asset-based lending, middle market/cash flow and floor plan lending. Most recently, he served as Executive Director of Hilco Global managing field exams and training.
Nelson has had extensive experience in collateral due diligence work leading and performing collateral exams/audits on transactions ranging from $3 Million to over $500 Million dollars. He brings extensive bank operations management and technology experience in commercial lending particularly in project management. He has been recognized as a change agent in providing leadership and turnaround management strategy for underperforming teams. Nelson has also worked in documentation review and preparation of loan documents.Nelson possesses a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Finance from Marquette University. Nelson has been an instructor for the Commercial Finance Association since 2010 teaching various programs including Collateral Control, Field Exam, and Inventory Workshops. He was instrumental in creating various online programs for the CFA. Nelson is a recipient of the prestigious Instructor of the Year award from the Commercial Finance Association in 2011. Nelson also wrote an article titled "Collateral" published in the Secured Lender magazine. He resides in Chicago, IL with his family. He enjoys photography in his spare time.
