D. Michael Monk

Managing Partner, Amerisource Business Capital

Michael Monk is Managing Partner of Amerisource Business Capital, where he has helped lead the company’s strategic direction and growth since 1999. He brings more than three decades of leadership experience in asset-based lending, private credit and direct private equity investing.  Prior to joining Amerisource, he started his career in commercial banking with Team Bank and Bank One, predecessors to JPMorgan Chase.

Throughout his career, he has been deeply committed to advancing the secured finance industry, serving as President of the Secured Finance Network (SFNet) in 2017–2018 following decades of service on its Board of Directors, Executive Committee, and Management Committee. Among his many contributions to the organization, he helped lead the association’s transformation and rebranding from the Commercial Finance Association (CFA) to SFNet, served on the search committee that recruited and hired longtime CEO Rich Gumbrecht, led the creation of the Chapters Committee and served as its very first chair, and played a key role in the creation of the SFNet Hall of Fame. He is widely respected for his commitment to leadership development, industry collaboration, and service to the secured finance community. Michael also served as President of the SFNet Houston Chapter.

A graduate of The University of Texas at Austin’s Canfield Business Honors Program, Michael earned degrees in Finance and Marketing and later received his MBA from UT. He remains actively involved with his alma mater as a member of UT’s Canfield Business Honors Program Advisory Board.

Michael is a past President of both the Houston Racquet Club, and the Spring Branch Memorial Sports Association (SBMSA).
