Baker Smith is a Managing Director in the Atlanta office of BDO Consulting, LLC. He is a Certified Turnaround Professional and holds the certificate in Family Business Advising with Fellow Status. Mr. Smith has more than 25 years of experience in crisis management, turnaround planning, corporate renewal, and strategic advisory services. He has advised company owners, management, lenders, creditors, and investors on significant corporate restructuring matters. In addition, he has served clients in a broad range of industries, including consumer products, restaurants, retail, manufacturing, distribution, agriculture, automotive, aviation, entertainment, steel, petroleum, apparel, construction, technology, software, and not-for-profit.

Mr. Smith has led more than 300 crisis management and turnaround teams for distressed companies ranging from $25 million to several billion in revenues, including serving as interim Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Chief Restructuring Officer (CRO) for several firms. He has been engaged on numerous high-profile assignments, including acting as Interim CEO for Pic ‘N Pay Stores, Inc. (453 stores in 23 states), Bank Group Advisor for General Time Corporation (Westclox®, Baby Ben®), Financial Advisor to The Athlete’s Foot®, Turnaround Advisor to Dixon-Ticonderoga®, Bank Syndicate Advisor to Gainey Transportation Service ($2 billion revenues), Financial Advisor to COI Foodservice ($750 million sales), and Financial Advisor to Blue Lizard Sunscreen®. He has also provided expert testimony and litigation support.

Mr. Smith served as Transition Team Leader for the President-Elect of the United States and is a member of the Beta Gamma Sigma Business Honor Society. He received the Outstanding Contribution to the Turnaround Profession Award. He is past president of the Association of Certified Turnaround Professionals and past vice president of the Turnaround Management Association.
