King & Spalding Expands Structured Finance Platform with Addition of Jonathan Ching and Andrew Kummer in New York

NEW YORK, August 10, 2026 – King & Spalding announced today that structured finance partners Jonathan Ching and Andrew Kummer have joined the firm’s Finance and Restructuring practice group. They are based in the New York office.

Ching and Kummer join from McDermott Will & Schulte LLP and bring extensive experience advising financial institutions, investment managers, private credit funds, hedge funds, commodity companies and emerging technology businesses on sophisticated structured finance, derivatives, fund finance, commodities and digital asset transactions.

King & Spalding’s Finance and Restructuring practice group has now added a total of 12 partners in 2026. In June and July, the Finance and Restructuring practice group expanded its fund finance platform with Ron Franklin, Andrew Bettwy, Jin Joo, and Gloria Kim. Earlier in June, Jarel Rosser, who advises on complex commercial real estate finance and structured lending matters, joined King & Spalding. In April, leveraged finance partners Jeff Cole and Brian Jansen joined the firm. In March, debt finance partner Matthew Kita joined the firm preceded by fund finance partner Chris Montgomery and leveraged finance partner Mae Rogers, who both joined in January.

His practice focuses on innovative and bespoke commodity finance transactions, including commodity-linked structured products, physical and financial commodity hedging, inventory monetization arrangements, prepay and offtake facilities, intermediation structures and energy market agreements. He also regularly advises clients on warehouse facilities, securitizations, fund finance transactions, subscription credit facilities, NAV facilities, hybrid financing arrangements, structured notes, OTC derivatives, capital relief trades, tokenization initiatives, blockchain infrastructure and cryptocurrency-related regulatory considerations. He is ranked by Chambers USA for Capital Markets: Structured Products and Derivatives.

Prior to entering private practice, Ching held senior legal and transactional roles at Bear Stearns/JPMorgan and D. E. Shaw & Co., L.P. He received his undergraduate degree, with honors, from the University of Southern California and his J.D. from Fordham University School of Law.

Kummer focuses his practice on highly complex structured finance and derivatives transactions. He advises clients on asset-based lending, securitizations, trade receivables finance, receivables purchases and sales, forward flow arrangements, warehouse facilities, structured notes, bespoke capital markets instruments and hedging transactions. His experience also includes physical and financial commodity transactions, inventory financing and monetization arrangements, intermediation structures and energy market agreements.

He received his undergraduate degree from Bucknell University and his J.D., cum laude, from Brooklyn Law School.
