LOS ANGELES (July 16, 2026)—Ashurst Perkins Coie is pleased to announce that Ryan Gaglio has joined the firm's Tax practice as a partner in Los Angeles.

Ryan advises private equity sponsors, emerging growth companies, venture capital investors, and public companies on the tax aspects of complex M&A and other strategic transactions. His practice spans buy- and sell-side acquisitions, leveraged buyouts, mergers, dispositions, rollover and earnout structures, inbound and outbound international tax planning, distressed transactions, and fund-related matters.

“As our clients face an evolving tax regime and increasingly complex cross-border transactions, expanding the depth and flexibility of our Tax team has never been more important,” said Bob Mahon, U.S. Tax lead at Ashurst Perkins Coie. “Ryan brings sophisticated transactional tax experience across the full spectrum of public and private matters. His arrival strengthens our existing practice and positions us to deliver even greater value as we continue to grow our global tax platform.”

In addition to his M&A tax practice, Ryan counsels clients on public offerings, de-SPAC transactions, Umbrella Partnership-C Corporation (Up-C) structures, real estate investment trust (REIT) structures, and take-private transactions. He also represents clients in tax audits and disputes before the IRS, the California Franchise Tax Board, and the California Department of Tax and Fee Administration. Ryan also assists client with administrative appeals and court challenges before the California Office of Tax Appeals, California superior courts and courts of appeal, U.S. district courts, and the U.S. Tax Court. He previously served as partner and head of the tax practice of a national firm.
“I'm excited to join Ashurst Perkins Coie at such a transformative moment for both the firm and the tax landscape,” said Ryan. “When critical transactions are on the line, businesses need a partner that can navigate the nuanced tax implications. I look forward to collaborating with the accomplished team at the firm and leveraging its global platform to serve as that strategic partner to our clients.”
