Al Spada

Executive Vice President and Head of Business Capital, M&T Bank

Albert Spada has been a leader in commercial lending and the asset-based lending industry for several decades.  He is presently Executive Vice President and Head of Business Capital for M&T Bank.

Previously, Mr. Spada was the President of Newtek Small Business Lending, a leader in the SBA lending industry.  Prior to that he was Managing Director and Head of Asset Based Finance at Santander Bank in the United States.  In that position he had responsibility for the ABL and Mortgage Warehouse Finance businesses.  Prior to Santander, he was the National Sales Leader for Citizens Business Capital.  Al spent more than 13 years at GE Capital in various leadership positions, most recently as its Managing Director and Region Manager.  Before joining GE he held positions in the Bank of New York and Goldman Sachs.

Al is a magna cum laude graduate of Boston College and holds an MBA degree in Finance from the New York University Stern School of Business. He is an active member of the Secured Finance Network and past president of the New York Chapter.

He resides in Westport, CT with his wife, Laura and their two children.
