Edwin E. Smith is special consultant to Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP in the firm’s Boston and New York City offices where he advises on general commercial and insolvency law matters.  As a Uniform Law Commissioner for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, he has chaired or served on a number of committees that have drafted uniform state commercial laws including recently serving as chair of the committee that drafted the 2022 amendments to the Uniform Commercial Code. He is currently serving as a member of the Permanent Editorial Board for the Uniform Commercial Code and just completed serving as chair of the Uniform Law Commission committee that drafted the Uniform Assignment for the Benefit of Creditors Act (2025).  He is a graduate of Yale University and Harvard Law School.
