Haynes and Boone Recruits Experienced Finance Lawyers Jim Markus and Tim Johnston

Prominent finance lawyers Jim Markus and Tim Johnston have joined the Dallas office of Haynes and Boone, LLP as partners in the Finance Practice Group.

Markus and Johnston have spent the bulk of their careers handling complex finance transactions in a variety of sectors, including manufacturing, distribution, energy, and electronics. They represent lenders, including international and regional banks, private equity funds and corporate borrowers, and have particular experience handling syndicated and bilateral domestic and cross-border asset-based lending (ABL) transactions and leveraged financings in the commercial and industrial spaces.

Markus and Johnston join Haynes and Boone from Vinson & Elkins LLP, where they were finance partners.

Markus’s practice spans commercial lending, corporate finance, loan workouts, and restructurings, with a special emphasis on ABL, syndicated financings, leveraged acquisitions, and mezzanine finance.

Johnston regularly advises clients on asset-based finance, syndicated finance, mezzanine and second lien finance, and loan workouts, as well as structuring and documenting cross-border financings. His clients are focused on various sectors, including the energy industry and its related service providers.

Johnston said he was attracted to Haynes and Boone’s deep banking connections, focus on middle-market transactions, and its “collegial culture and environment.”
