Keith Herron Retiring From Regions Bank After 31-year Career

Following a distinguished career spanning more than 30 years, Regions Bank announced today that Keith Herron, Senior Executive Vice President, Head of Corporate Responsibility and Community Engagement, will retire from Regions.

“During his more than three decades at Regions, Keith has demonstrated tremendous leadership and commitment to the values, mission and culture of our company,” said John Turner, Regions President and CEO. “Throughout his career, Keith inspired fellow bankers to keep customers first in every decision being made. He’s known throughout the company for his commitment to serving customers and making a positive difference in the communities where we work and live. I wish him well as he begins a new phase in life.”

Herron joined Regions’ Management Training Program in 1988 and has held a variety of leadership roles. He served as Regional President in markets throughout Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, and the Midwest, and also managed Strategy and Mergers & Acquisitions. Herron also had leadership roles in Corporate Banking and Risk Management. As Head of Corporate Responsibility and Community Engagement, Herron currently oversees a number of enterprise functions, including Corporate Communications, the Regions Foundation, Community Affairs, Government Affairs and Economic Development, Fair and Responsible Banking, Customer Experience, and the bank’s go-to-market strategy Regions360.

Herron’s retirement will be effective early January 2020.

Keith Herron is a member of Regions’ Executive Leadership Team and has served as Head of Corporate Responsibility and Community Engagement since March 2018. In this capacity, Herron manages enterprise functions, including Corporate Communications, the Regions Foundation, Community Affairs and Charitable Giving, Government Affairs and Economic Development, Fair and Responsible Banking, Customer Experience and Regions360. Herron was previously South Region President, overseeing banking operations in Alabama, Mississippi, South Louisiana and the Florida panhandle. He also previously led Strategy and Mergers & Acquisitions for Regions and served as Mid-South Region President, overseeing Tennessee, North Carolina, Virginia, Kentucky, Missouri, Iowa, Illinois and Indiana. He joined the bank in 1988 and has served in senior risk and business roles, including Head of Credit Review and Area President for North Alabama, East Tennessee and Middle Tennessee. He also worked as a Credit Analyst, Commercial and Corporate banker and a Corporate Banking Executive for Central Alabama.

Herron earned a bachelor’s degree from Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama, and a master’s degree in Finance from DePaul University in Chicago, Illinois. He also graduated with honors from Stonier Graduate School of Banking at the University of Delaware. Herron has served as Chairman of the Board of Overseers for Samford University, on the Advisory Board for the Brock School of Business at Samford, on the Board of Directors for Vulcan Park and Museum, on the Alabama Capital Network Advisory Board and on the Board of Trustees at Canterbury United Methodist Church. He also is a member of the Newcomen Society of Alabama. Herron in the past has also served on numerous community boards in Nashville and Knoxville Tennessee.
